Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer

Nate comes from 15 yrs of professional business development and business management experience w/ a strong passion for CleanTech.

His career began as Founder of an auto parts e-commerce store. Followed by President and Co-Founder of the commercial/residential real estate financing company Optimum Lending Group. After his success in the financing space, Nate spent 7 yrs as a Sr. Business Development Professional at a world-renowned corporate consulting firm where he developed c-level relationships across Fortune 1000 companies and assisted in initiating over $25mn in sales.

Nate holds his PV system design and installation certificate from Solar Living Institute and has completed NABCEP. He also holds his MLO license with the NMLS #334574. Nate is an alum from the CleanTech NE TDP program.

Ian Ricci

Co-Founder, Chief Technology Officer

Ian is an experienced software engineer, Linux systems admin, and business management professional; 17+ yrs of experience in the industry. Most recently, CTO of an Internet B2B company; Co-Founder of: Piddx (an on-demand skills and services marketplace); REMAGINE (Internet services); Advisory Board member for Name Net Worth.

Over the years, Ian has developed a strong passion for CleanTech, and brings his unique perspective to the industry.

Ian holds a B.S in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, A.S in Science and Engineering, and A.A.S in Telecommunications Technology from Springfield Technical Community College.

Ian is an alum from both the Valley Venture Mentors business accelerator and mentorship program, along with the CleanTech NE TDP program.

Ken Appleman has spent more than 30 years in the development of transformational technologies. He worked on the first home banking system, helped develop a ground breaking home computer animation system, has been an inventor of online technologies and applications, and created a device which treats sleep disorders with light.

He was the founding Chief Technology Officer of About.com, and was a key architect of the Prodigy Online Service. In his work at About.com and Prodigy, he designed technologies that earned him a listing as inventor on eighteen online and Internet patents.

Ken has a BA (English) degree from SUNY Albany, an MS (Computer Science) degree from Pace University, and an MS (Light) and Ph.D. (Architectural Sciences) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Lighting Research Center.

Nick Bliamptis

Nick brings with him over 20 years of startup experience in executive search, sales and marketing in the big data, renewable energy, and semiconductor industries.

A serial entrepreneur himself, Nick has played a strategic role in helping launch over 20 startups. Since 2008 he has also been mentoring teams in MIT's "Ignite Clean Energy"​ business plan competition, it's successor the "Cleantech Open,"​ and most recently the "MIT Enterprise Forum."​ Previously he held marketing management positions at several firms which provided semiconductor design software and services including Cadence Design Systems.

Nick holds an MBA from Boston University, a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University.

Robert Ellis

Robert Ellis


Robert Ellis has been an attorney for 28 years; has significant experience as a ship's officer, including being a line officer in the US Navy and work on cargo ships and ashore in management, and project management, roles.

As general counsel, he helped negotiate project, company purchase / sale, joint venture, agreements, 350 MWs of wind energy project financings, and associated real estate agreements. He also did securities, environmental, HR work, and managed outside counsel. Specialties include general company legal advice, incl. litigation and transactional work (admiralty, project finance, real estate, renewable energy), project management, and holds an active master mariner’s license.

Robert has a BA from the University of Washington and JD from the University of California at Davis.

Acknowledged as an expert resource, Thom’s advice has been featured in media outlets such as Forbes, U.S. News & World Report, The Huffington Post, Fox Business, and others.

He is also an award-winning philanthropist supporting community causes such as Junior Achievement, Valley Venture Mentors, Suit Up Springfield, and other organizations encouraging economic development. Thom shares his personal and professional insights as Host / Producer of The Engine.

Jeremy is an outside the box solutionist with a passion for entrepreneurship. He is a sales and commercial finance expert, with over a decade of experience.

Over the years, Jeremy has also developed key skills with networking and organizing networking events. These same skills have been channeled into his company and mobile application called Name Net Worth; a platform that measures the return on investment of human interaction.

He supports many community causes, and is an active board member in such groups as Suit Up Springfield and Pathlight, as well as former President of the Young Professionals Society of Greater Springfield.
